Family Supports

Initially when a person is found eligible for services, they will be added to a waiting list for one of three available waivers attached to the SCDDSN service delivery system. Until such time a waiver is allocated to the individual, there are limited family supports to help families meet needs while they wait for a waiver.

Waiver Funded Supports

The SCDDSN system operates three Medicaid Waiver programs: The ID/RD (Intellectual Disabilities/Related Disabilities) Waiver, the CSW (Community Supports) waiver, and the HASCI (Head and Spinal Cord Injury) waiver. The waiting lists for these waivers are maintained at the state level but your local Case Manager can obtain information for you on your waiting list status. It is important to note that all adult programs are funded through waivers so ensuring your/your loved one is on that waiting list is of upmost importance. Your Case Manager can provide you with specific services funded through each of these waivers.

Conflict Free Case Management

Implemented in 2023, the practice of conflict free Case Management means that an individual receiving a direct support from a provider cannot have a case manager employed by that same provider. This practice of conflict- free case management means that it may be necessary to change case management providers over the course of time to ensure that you can access chosen direct supports (such as day and/or residential supports).
